Current Cravings

It has gotten COLD here! I'm talking snow already, winter hats, coats and gloves cold. All you want to wear every day are think sweaters cold. You would think after living in cold weather almost all of my life, I would be used to it. I'm not. I'm a wuss.

Every year I ask my husband if we can move somewhere warm. I lived in Kansas for nearly 5 years and LOVED it. I would move back in a heartbeat. I tried to convince him being closer to watch KU games would make me a happy wife. And happy wife  = happy life! Every year I hear no. So, I deal. By wearing lots of layers. Which sucks, because I have so many cute clothes! And I hate wearing skirts or cropped pants when it's cold, even though they look so cute!

This year's goal is to work on that. I mean really, my office is warm (most days). It's only a walk from my car, to daycare, back in car, walk into work. My goal this winter is to wear some of my cute dresses, skirts and pants I dread when it's cold.

I really do love fall. I love the layers. I love the coolness of the air (not the coldness, yes I'm a weather snob). I love football and college basketball. I love playing in the snow with my little guy. Here are a few items I'm currently craving for this fall and winter!

Printed sweaters! They are everywhere this fall. Since I don't spend a lot on trendy pieces, I found a few great options at oldnavy.com.

Colored cords - I can't get enough of the colored pants. Cords are so comfortable, and the color options make them a cute casual option. These from gap.com come in long (plus for a tall girl like me!) and many color options.

Booties! Need I say more?

White Delights

I love my colors, especially in summer time, but there's something about wearing white that screams summer. Maybe because I still think it's taboo to wear white after Labor Day.

I love wearing white skinnies when it's a little cooler at night, or I don't feel like shaving before going out. A tunic is perfect for hiding any imperfections, as well as balancing a skinny bottom. For a casual day, try a t-shirt, throw on a cute hat if you aren't having a great hair day, add a braid and you can still be cute AND stylish.

I love, love, love white shorts if I'm dressing up to go out on a date with the hubs. I love the look of neutral on neutral. I think it looks so polished and classy. If it's chilly, try a cute tank under a white blazer. So chic!

April snow brings??

The month of April in South Dakota can be summed up in one word: COLD!!! We had a terrible ice storm (FEMA is on their way in), the ice was around 3" thick and about 80% of the trees in the area are down. I'm talking old trees, busted in half. Then we got 8" of snow on top of it. It's about 30 degrees colder then normal. So cold is fitting. I digress...

April for me is a great time to wear blazers. I'm finally getting on board with the denim jacket craze, and got my new beauty from J.Crew Factory. I saw it on Kendi and had to have it. Here are a few items I'm currently craving (or may have bought most of them...don't tell my husband).

Hopefully the weather warms up soon and I can get some pictures taken outside!

Double Dressed Up

Cardi: Old Navy/Dress: Old Navy/Skirt: Target

First off, I'm not as crabby as I look in these pictures. Actually, I was in a great mood. However, I tried out a new spot to take pictures, and it happened to have a house nearby that had people home who felt like staring out me. Because I came out of an alien ship or something. So I found it hard to concentrate on making pleasant faces.

I have a confession: This top is not a top, it's a dress. I see a lot of bloggers pull it off, so I thought I'd give it a try. I fooled everyone at work! And it wasn't uncomfortable, so I would call it a win! I debated on buying the shift dress since it was bright neon pink, but the color's grown on me and I know I would have kicked myself for leaving it on the clearance rack. Plus it was only $7 so who can complain.

Neon Love

1/2/3/4/5/6/7

I've been trying to add color into my wardrobe, and living in the cold Midwest, I've had to do that by layering. These pieces are versatile for spring, summer and into the fall. I definitely have my eye on the pink blazer and hope to add it very soon to my closet!

Mint Madness

Cardigan: Old Navy/ Blouse: Gap/Pants: NY & Co/Heels: Maurices

My co-workers told me I looked springy today. I love the color combo of mint and yellow. It feels so fresh. It also reminds me of our favorite resort, Couples Resorts. Our rooms are white and yellow and minty. Only 194 days until we're back! Too soon to count down?

Mellow Yellow

Pants: Old Navy/Button-up: NY & Co/Shirt: Old Navy/Boots: Maurices

Don't let the sunglasses fool you - it was 17 degrees outside when these pictures were taken. It's about 30 degrees below average still. I blame it on all the South Dakotans who complained last year that it was too warm. I rather enjoyed 60s and 70s in March. I bought this sweater a few years ago - yellow and a bow, how can you go wrong?

On another note, this week I'm looking forward to March Madness! I'm a big follower of college basketball, more specifically the KU Jayhawks. I lived in Kansas nearly 5 years growing up, and wish I could convince my husband to move back with me.

Rock Chalk ya'll!
